Hadoop certification experience
Published on: Author: Binu Badarudeen Category: IT development and operationsI got interested in Hadoop because of the buzz it creates online. But I didn’t have any clue how to start working with it. The chance to attend a four day training on ‘Cloudera Developer Training For Apache Hadoop’ really helped me dive into some details of Hadoop.
But the training is not enough to get in-depth knowledge of Hadoop in order to take ‘Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop’ exam. So I followed the book ‘Hadoop: The Definitive Guide, 3rd Edition by Tom White’. This is a bible for Hadoop.
After a 3 week preparation I did the exam on 28th November 2012. The exam consisted of 60 multiple choice questions, where all answers seem (and in some cases are) correct, but you have to pick the best answer based on the question.
Each exam question raised even more questions in my mind though, and I realised how important it is to read and clarify each statement in the book.
A word of advice from a Certified (I passed!) Hadoop Developer? Do not miss even one line of text in the first 8 (out of the 15) chapters of the book, because 90% of the ‘Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop’ questions are based on it.
Good luck!
