TMap at Qualogy Caribbean

Published on: Category: IT development and operations

We learned (from experience) that software testing is very important in a scrum environment. We also learned that for the best test results, it needs to be an integrated part of our development methods. When you treat it as an afterthought, your test results will most likely suffer.

I sometimes get the impression that a lot of people think that Agile projects are very chaotic, and lack a clear structure.  This isn't the case in a true, well-organized Agile project. Just as true Agile projects recognize the importance of testing.

Below the are the biggest advantages we found at Qualogy Caribbean by working in a structured, Agile way which includes testing:

  1. Testing gives insight in the risks and flaws that may come up with the quality of a system or application.
  2. Bugs and errors can be tracked down early on, which gives you ample time to fix  them.
  3. Some test results can be reused in different projects, saving you a lot of time.
  4. Testing processes are transparent and can be verified.

The method we use for testing is called Test Management Approach, TMap in short. It has proven to be very adaptive which makes it easy for us to combine it with Scrum. This is the main reason why this combination has worked for so many big companies over the years.

At Qualogy Caribbean, we use it for many different projects. Our test team is fully dedicated to their own projects, which gives us much better results compared to unmotivated or uninvolved test teams. Not only gives this time for testers to learn the application inside out, but also to be involved with it from the start. In an agile environment where TMap gets used in combination with scrum, developers and testers work closely together.
